Are your perfumes really 100% natural?
Yes. Every FRANK AND LAZULI fragrance is handcrafted using 100% botanical ingredients including essential oils, absolutes, resins & balsams. We never use synthetic fragrance oils, phthalates or unnecessary fillers. And our carrier oil for our perfumes is fractionated coconut oil, as this ensures a longer shelf life and doesn't interrupt the fine fragrance notes.
Why don't your perfumes smell like department store perfumes?
Natural perfumery is beautifully different. Rather than smelling exactly the same from the first spray to the last, botanical fragrances evolve with your skin, your body chemistry and the changing temperature throughout the day. It's a living fragrance designed to become uniquely yours.
Why doesn't my perfume smell the same on someone else?
Your skin chemistry, lifestyle, diet and even the weather all influence how a botanical perfume develops. The same fragrance can reveal completely different notes on two different people. That's part of the magic of natural perfumery.
How long will my fragrance last?
Our botanical perfumes are created for beautiful longevity, but natural ingredients behave differently from synthetic fragrance chemicals. Most people enjoy many hours of wear, with softer, more intimate projection that sits closer to the skin over time.
Why are natural perfumes more expensive?
Some of the world's most treasured botanical ingredients require extraordinary amounts of raw material to produce.
For example, thousands of jasmine blossoms are hand-picked before sunrise to create a tiny amount of jasmine absolute, while rose absolute requires thousands of petals for just a small quantity of oil. These precious ingredients are harvested by hand and extracted with incredible care, making them among the most valuable materials in perfumery.
Do your perfumes improve with age?
Yes. Every fragrance is hand blended in small batches and slowly matured before bottling, allowing the botanicals to soften, harmonise and develop greater depth. Like a fine wine, natural perfumes continue to evolve over time.
How should I apply my perfume?
Apply to pulse points such as your wrists, neck and behind your ears. Avoid rubbing your wrists together, as this can disturb the delicate top notes. Reapply throughout the day whenever you'd like to refresh your ritual.
How should I store my perfume?
Store your perfume in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Looking after your perfume helps preserve the delicate botanical ingredients for years to come.
Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. Every FRANK AND LAZULI product is vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. We never test on animals.
Are your perfumes suitable for sensitive skin?
Our fragrances are made with pure botanical ingredients and contain no synthetic fragrance oils. However, essential oils are naturally potent, so if you have particularly sensitive skin we recommend performing a patch test before regular use.
Do you use artificial colours?
Never. The colour of each perfume comes naturally from the botanical ingredients used to create it, which means slight colour variations between batches are completely normal.
Why does my perfume look slightly different from my last bottle?
Natural ingredients vary slightly from harvest to harvest, just as flowers, fruit and wine vintages do. Small differences in colour or aroma are a beautiful reminder that each bottle is handcrafted using real botanicals.
Are your perfumes handmade?
Every bottle is blended, matured, bottled and labelled by hand in small batches with intention and care all by Alana at the Perfume Bar. Patiently aged for a minimum of 8 weeks, allowing each botanical to harmonise naturally for exceptional depth and longevity.
